Vietnam's tax landscape is undergoing significant changes in 2026, with new regulations affecting value-added tax (VAT) rates, corporate income tax (CIT) incentives, and transfer pricing documentation requirements. Foreign-invested enterprises must proactively adapt to remain compliant.

The most notable VAT change is the adjustment of the standard rate structure. The government has revised the list of goods and services subject to different VAT rates, and businesses should review their supply chains to identify any impact on input tax credits and output tax obligations.

Regarding CIT, several new incentive programs have been introduced for investments in high-tech parks, innovation centers, and green energy projects. These incentives can reduce the effective CIT rate to as low as 10% for qualifying enterprises, compared to the standard rate of 20%.

Transfer pricing documentation requirements have been strengthened, with new rules on master file and local file preparation aligned with OECD guidelines. Vietnamese tax authorities have increased their focus on transfer pricing audits, particularly for transactions involving related parties in low-tax jurisdictions.

To navigate these changes effectively, we recommend that foreign-invested enterprises conduct a comprehensive tax review and engage qualified tax advisors to ensure full compliance while optimizing their tax positions.
